Detective Pietro Lavini continues to investigate the case and searches for Tom Ripley in Rome, whom he suspects may have been killed by Dick in San Remo.Maggie told Detective Pietro Lavigne that she saw Tom Ripley in Rome, but the detective thought it was a lie.The bank contacted Lavigne about an incorrect signature on Dick's monthly trust payment.With one letter, Tom convinced the bank that there was no fraud involved.Newspapers report that Tom Ripley is missing and his disappearance may be related to Freddy's murder.Tom left again for Venice.
