Disney+《Doctor Who Season 1》Episode 1 Plot Summary

As the ultimate explorer of time travel, the Doctor will lead us on a fantastic journey through time and space. For long-time fans, these elements may already be familiar; however, for newcomers, this is a great opportunity to delve deeper into the Doctor Who universe and its rich mythology, and the series' presentation of these elements isIt also cleverly avoids content that might cause controversy or discomfort.

During an adventure that travels back to the age of the dinosaurs (set in the United States), Ruby accidentally steps on a butterfly and changes her skin color.Fortunately, the doctor used magical means to successfully resurrect the butterfly, allowing Ruby to return to her original form. This plot not only shows the doctor's wisdom and strength, but also adds a touch of lightness and humor to the story.

Later, when the Doctor and Ruby arrive in the distant future, a loud noise causes the Doctor to panic, and he even snuggles up to Ruby for comfort. This scene undoubtedly subverts the audience's inherent impression of the Doctor's bravery and fearlessness, showing that he also has a fragile and fearful side as a Time Lord. When the space station was in danger due to an overload crisis, the Doctor began to reflect on why he was so scared after raising the teleporter to a higher position.

In the next episode, Ruby and the Doctor find themselves on a baby farm. The babies are used as a tool to boost population numbers, and screenwriter Russell takes the opportunity to send a small social message to the audience: In the future, the world may go crazy and kissing is banned. The babies are sent to a colonial world while the Doctor and Ruby overlook this new world.

It is worth mentioning that the plot of this season is similar to the first space story created by Russell in 2005.When Ruby is asked to call her mother, the scene is reminiscent of a similar episode that happened to Rose earlier. However, perhaps due to a lack of novelty and depth, this segment failed to impress the audience as much as before.

In the Baby Farm, a talking baby Poppy catches the Doctor's attention.Through communication with Bobby, the doctor not only reveals his own origin and specialness, but also makes the audience think deeper about these seemingly innocent babies. In addition, we also met Nunn, the robot responsible for taking care of these children (instead of the previous Wall-E), which undoubtedly injected new vitality and creativity into the series.

However, downstairs, the Doctor showed a disappointing side. When faced with Bodjeman, an entity that frightened the children, the Doctor did not take measures to comfort or protect them. Instead, he shouted - Bodjeman!- to make fun of them and make the children fall deeper into fear. This behavior undoubtedly caused the audience to question and worry about the doctor's ethics.

Regardless, the Doctor finally decided to face up to his current predicament.Nunn's timely assistance pointed the way for the doctor, and she pointed out that the key to salvation lies in portal 3-5-7.In the process of exploration, the doctor gradually realized that Ruby seemed to be inextricably linked to this theme surrounding babies. As he tried to uncover the secret behind all this, the scene in the church could not help but come to mind. However, what is surprising is that snowflakes began to float inside the spacecraft, as if memory and reality were blending.

However, their thoughts were interrupted by Nunn.We were surprised to find that Nunn was not just a robot, but a real person with flesh and blood, sitting quietly behind the console.Nunn leads the Doctor and Ruby into her control room and reveals a sad fact: due to the recession, the government has closed the baby stations to save money. However, the law prohibits stopping the production machinery, so the operation is still maintained here.

Nunn, whose real name is actually Jocelyn, was an accountant who was present. After the crew members left, she chose to stay and take care of these innocent children. She didn't want to see them face death because they were left unattended, so she hid behind the console and silently guarded the closed site, although food and air were extremely limited.

Inside the station, portal 3-5-7 became their life-saving straw to get extra air.Although the space station is effectively immobile, the Doctor and Ruby are still considering whether they can seek assistance from a refugee hosting organization called DuBarryDuPlessy. While the group is willing to lend a hand, they have to be physically present on other people's shores. This request caused the doctor to fall into deep thought, and he began to wonder about the deep meaning behind this sentence.

The biggest problem they faced, however, was Bodjeman. The Doctor is confused as to why Bodjeman would frighten him, as this is not his usual style.

One of the babies, named Eric, bravely stepped out of his stroller to confront Bodjeman. When Ruby and the doctor realized that something was wrong and rushed to the scene, they found that Bojiman and Eric were missing.Eric was not in his stroller, which had been tipped over, and he was in a locker.

Here we learn a shocking fact.Bodjeman first appeared six years ago as they made their way down a large corridor filled with thick, terrifying goo.The doctor begins to realize that there may be an unknown past hidden here.

There seemed to be two machines operating simultaneously - one above, nurturing the baby, and the other below, gestating Bodjeman. It all seems like a carefully woven story, created through software to scare those innocent babies, using their imagination to create fear.So what exactly is Bodjeman made of?The answer is ridiculous - it's made from a mixture of boogers and nose-blowing mucus, which also explains why it sheds its skin.

Eventually, they successfully escaped from the space station.Jocelyn stood up to Bodjeman and blasted it into space. She opened the airlock, but harrowingly, she had no idea it was actually one of her own children.

The Doctor doesn't have his sonic screwdriver as a weapon at this point, so does he, like the old Doctors of the past, solve problems with just his words and wisdom? Not so.He sent Ruby to find Jocelyn for help while he opened the airlock himself. In the extreme environment where the oxygen content was less than 4%, he closed the airlock and pressed the key button with his own power.

The Bodjeman threat was removed for the time being, it was no longer so scary, just howling in the airlock, temporarily trapped. We don't see this issue fully resolved, and can only assume that the creature is now docile and under control.

The Doctor cleverly uses the methane in the baby's diapers as propulsion to propel the spacecraft toward their new world. With everything seemingly calm again, the Doctor and Ruby decide to return to the time machine. On the way back, the Doctor hands over the keys to the time machine to Ruby, implying that he intends to make her his companion on the journey. At least until the end of this season, she will fight side by side with the Doctor and face the challenges of the future together.
