《I am No. 001》Beijing screening, the director talks about the original intention of creation and family life

 At a gathering during the filming, Xu Shirui remembered the words of a patient: When he falls into a trough again in the future, he may hesitate and stop when he thinks of today's happiness.On the evening of October 8, a viewing party for the documentary film - I Am No. 001 was held in Beijing. The director talked about this experience and explained why he insisted on making this film.

Host Zhang Yue, psychological counselors Li Wenyao and Xu Shirui sat on the stage and discussed with the audience the topic of mental illness in the film.What is recorded on the screen is the daily life of a young volunteer who was trapped in three rooms and one living room after suffering from depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder.Family images and documentary shooting together make up the film. The changes in the condition, the patient's situation, and how the family lives with him are all left in this record.

Xu Shirui started creating and filming in 2018. In the post-production stage, he still maintained contact with the family.Some viewers thought the movie looked too heavy, but she hoped to preserve the original living conditions of patients and families as much as possible.

Li Wenyao believes that spectrum mental illnesses have a coherent development process.The film completely records the relatively withdrawn state of young people in their early stages and the subsequent changes in their condition.

An audience member at the scene also talked about his own experience.When she was young, the troubles caused by her original family made her want to end her life. Later, she received rescue in the ICU and watched other patients around her leave, and she felt the fragility of life.Now, she has rediscovered her desire to express and share, and is gradually stepping out of the shadow of her family.She hopes to use this experience to remind people in similar situations to recognize the disease and give them a chance to start over.

Xu Shirui was very touched after hearing this.During the filming, she organized an outing for her partners who suffered from depression, and the opening words came from one of the participants who had tried to commit suicide many times.The other person said that this happy memory might make him stop when he falls into a trough again in the future.

“This is also my original intention of shooting this movie.”Xu Shirui said.
