Ning Xiuxiu (played by Yang Mi), the richest daughter of Tianniu Temple Village, was kidnapped by bandits on the day of her marriage. Her father Ning Xuexiang (played by Ni Dahong) was reluctant to sell the land to redeem her and married her sister Ning Susu (played by Xing Fei) to her childhood sweetheart Fei Wendian (played by Zhang Tianyang).Xiu Xiu resolutely cut off relations with his father and married Feng Dajiao (played by Ou Hao), a man from the village house who rescued him from the bandit's nest. He learned to do farm work and slowly understood the significance of land to farmers.
