Flashbacks reveal that Maya's mother was a healer who was able to imbue living beings with the power of the Chactaws.She could save an injured bird, but there was nothing she could do about her own accident.Tamaha was busy at the Chactaw's grand dance.Zane and Fisk are both present, Fisk stays there and introduces himself to Chula.

Biskitz texted Maya to tell her that neither Chula nor Bonnie showed up, and she immediately felt something was wrong.Maya returns in a hurry and sees a vision of her mother, just as she heals the bird in the opening cold open scene, and her mother tells her that all the ancestral powers are present in her, going all the way back to Chafa.

Chula creates a traditional costume for Maya, and her mother implores her to wear it and fight for them with all her gifts.Bird guides Maya through the ball and to a stable where Fisk and his men hold Chula and Bonnie hostage.Maya transfers her ancestral powers to Chula and Bonnie, who help her fight against Fisk's men, while outside, Henry kills Zane and Biskits runs over his men with a monster truck.

Maya uses her mother's healing powers to draw Fisk into his mind, back to his childhood memories, asking him to release his pain and anger.He wakes up confused and eventually a loyal employee leads him away before the police arrive.The episode, and the season, ends with Maya having dinner with her family.

In a post-credits scene, Fisk gets the idea to run for mayor.
