Based on the myths and legends in the ancient book "The Classic of Mountains and Seas", the first eight episodes tell the story of Nuwa creating human beings, the candle dragon opening its eyes for daylight, Xihe bathing in the sun, Yi shooting for nine days, Chang'e flying to the moon, and Kui Pi.Ancient and magnificent legendary stories such as drum making, these stories hide the unforgettable warnings of our ancestors; the well-known heroes in the stories all contain the blood of the Chinese ancestors who have succeeded us one after another.

Based on the myths and legends in the Classic of Mountains and Seas, the film explores and organizes Chinese mythology by combining classics, historical materials and expert explanations, and tells the legendary epics in the initial stage of Chinese civilization.
The film took more than three years to produce, during which the creative team reclassified, processed, coded and interpreted the Classic of Mountains and Seas.After the second creation, the theme story of creation, origin, ascension, time, heroes, etc. that is more in line with today's thinking mode and psychological representation appears.In terms of image design, the creative team uses simple outline shapes and bright colors, striving to express the original childlike innocence; in terms of scene design, it draws on the layout and composition of Chinese landscape paintings, and the shapes of plants, people, and animals also draw on a lot of ideas.Han statue bricks and mural patterns; in terms of content, relevant experts and scholars were also invited to interpret it.The documentary rhetoric used by the creative team in the film is not limited to quotations, personifications, and metaphors. The creative techniques also include hand-drawn animation, clay modeling, XR light and shadow interpretation, modern dance, shadow puppetry, on-site shooting, scene interpretation and other diverse forms.
