 Four vertical screens appear on the wide screen at the same time, and the lives of four people unfold at the same moment.《Four Quarters》The pilot film of "Four Screens of the World" will be released on September 30, showing off this four-screen design and introducing how to achieve millisecond-level synchronization of four cameras during shooting.

The film was written and directed by Cai Chengjie, supervised by Huang Bo and starred in it. It was screened for the first time in the world in the Hidden Dragon section of the 10th Pingyao International Film Festival on September 25, and subsequently received the Fei Mu Honor and Special Commendation.Huang Bo, Cai Chengjie, Wang Jiayi and photography director Da Jiang attended the premiere press conference and talked with the audience about creation and viewing methods.

Cai Chengjie’s ideas are related to viewing habits in the multi-window era.The four people on the screen are in different stages of life and seem to have no connection, but they later intersect in fate.He juxtaposed these life aspects horizontally, and the four experiences corresponded to spring, summer, autumn and winter, hoping that they could answer each other.The gatherings and separations of life, birth, old age, illness and death are no longer arranged one by one, but enter the same time and space.

The picture design draws on Eastern screens and scrolls: four vertical screens are combined into a wide screen space, each with its own story, and each other changes at the same moment.The "four machines at the same frequency" announced in the pilot film serves this structure exactly.Synchronized shooting requires aligning the time of each frame, ultimately achieving millisecond accuracy.

Before the official launch, the team spent fifteen days filming the entire film with their mobile phones, repeatedly testing whether the four-screen narrative was valid.Photography director Da Jiang said in the exchange that the four-vertical screen design enriches the artistic conception and emotion of the picture, and the details also need to be fully felt in the theater environment.

Huang Bo said at the premiere: World cinema has been developing for so many years, and now there is the possibility of taking a step forward, which is very exciting.“He not only participated in the production, but also starred in the film. This time he and the team tried a different expression than the conventional single screen.

Which part should the audience's eyes focus on?Someone at the scene described the experience as "how to move forward with attention in the corner of your eye".The gaze can shift from one character to another, and there is other life going on in the peripheral vision.Cai Chengjie therefore called it a movie that ”allows for distraction; he also said when awarding the award that taking risks is another sense of perseverance, hoping to find fellow travelers on the way to explore the boundaries of movies.
