The first impression, misunderstanding and love between Elizabeth and Darcy have a new screen version.Netflix has released a trailer and a set of first stills for Pride & Prejudice, a six-episode miniseries adapted from Jane Austen's novel that will be launched on December 3.

Emma Corrin plays Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden plays Mr. Darcy. The two have starred in The Crown and Slow Horses respectively. The new drama will still revolve around love, desire and first impressions during the Regency period, showing the relationship between the two characters from mutual conflict to mutual understanding.

Writer and showrunner Dolly Alderton, who is responsible for the adaptation, has created Good Material and Everything I Know About Love. When talking about this work, she said that in every generation there is always a group of people who get the opportunity to retell this story, and she is lucky to be one of them.“Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy.” Alderton said that it is a joy to reopen the novel and find a familiar yet fresh way of presentation. She thought the book would be suitable for adaptation because it has drama and depth as well as comedy and charm.

She hopes to explore the complex relationships of love, family, friendship and society through the novel, while staying close to Austen's keen and interesting observational tone.Director Euros Lin and the actors will work together to present these funny and complex characters, both for readers who are familiar with the original work, and for new audiences who have not yet met Lizzie and Darcy.

The supporting cast includes Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet, Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham and Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins. The first batch of stills also show different scenes such as family life, country outings and dance parties.

《Pride and Prejudice》There have been many film and television adaptations before. The 1995 TV series starred Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle; the 2005 film version starred Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen as the two protagonists. The new show chooses to stay true to Austen's original work, without adopting a parody-style rewrite like the 2016 Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Netflix announced this adaptation project in April 2025. When the trailer was released this time, about a year and a half had passed since the news of the project was established.
