The 16th China Golden Eagle Television Arts Festival Micro-Short Drama Honors Unit was held on September 29 in Changsha, Hunan. This is the first time that the Golden Eagle TV Arts Festival has set up an independent honor section for micro-short dramas, and six categories of honors for the annual micro-short drama, producer, director, screenwriter, actor and actress were announced on site.Short vertical screen content has moved from platform hits to professional TV art events, and the creative team and actors have also been given a stage to focus on.
This solicitation was launched from June to July this year. It was selected by provincial TV artists associations and recommended by major online platforms. A total of 237 works were received. In August, 60 shortlisted works were announced at the Stars of the Times, Walking with America, New Popular Literature and Art Ceremony and Honorary Recommendation Series of Micro-Short Plays held in Xi'an, and the final honorary list was announced in Changsha.
There are 25 micro-short plays of the year: 《 Heroes come out of youth since ancient times 》 The Promise of Taiyuan · You are a song in my heart 《》 My heart is boiling “ Old Gun ” 《》 Iron-blooded heroic soul 《》 Happy family · Love together 《》 1818 Editorial Department 《》 The huge truth 《》 The legend of Kuang Qingtian 《》 Love me long live 《》 The glory of the judge 《》 At home and outside the home 《Series》Agui's “Village Evening”《》Returning Pearls《》Young Fields《》Undercurrent Surges《》ENEMY《》Go to the place where peach blossoms bloom《》Changle Changsong《》Chinese Beauty Pictures: Zhuo Wenjun《》I am a foreman on the moon《》Parrots《》Fake the surname Langya《》Make the Tide《》Reverberation of Mountains and Rivers《》Midsummer Findela--.
The themes of this batch of works span a wide range.Historical figures, rural life, family relationships, judicial stories, suspense investigations and science fiction imagination were all selected at the same time, indicating that micro-short dramas have left a single emotional routine and begun to fully extend into traditional film and television genres. The length of the film is shorter, but the genre recognition is faster. The character's situation and main conflicts usually need to be explained in the opening few minutes.
Works such as "Fake Surname Langya" - "Parrot" - "Returning Pearls" - have accumulated a lot of attention during the dissemination process, and have become names in this list that are easily recognized by the audience. They each adopt different narrative methods. The audience can see from the complete list how the micro-short dramas use historical imagination, suspense structure and character relationships. The honorary unit includes screenwriting, directing and performance aspects in addition to the popularity of communication into the evaluation.

Director of the Year was won by Zhou Jiuqin, Yang Kenan, Mu Yu, Wang Shuai and Cao Yong. The shooting cycle of micro-short dramas is tight and the number of scenes is intensive. The director has to complete a large amount of content within a limited time while ensuring that the rhythm of the shots and the status of the characters are consistent.Short episodes will also magnify the problem. A delayed transition or unclear information in a scene may interrupt the audience's willingness to continue watching.
The screenwriters of the year are Zhang Jiajun, Han Lizhi, Liu Yang (Aries), Sun Yuhang and Wen Rui.Micro-short dramas rely on strong plots, but continuing to create twists does not mean that the story is established.Character motivation, cause and effect, and the landing point of each episode need to be accurate at the same time. The length of an episode is tens of seconds or minutes, so the screenwriter must distribute information more strictly.
The Actors of the Year are Liu Xiaoxu, Wang Daotie, Pi Desheng, Luo Yizhou and Liu Qing; the Actresses of the Year are Wang Yi (王小义), Sun Su Mengxi (Sun Yiran), Han Yutong, Zhao Ming (Zhao Xixi) and Li Lingyu.Ten actors were named to the honorary list, allowing for independent observation of micro-short play performances. The fast-moving plot often compresses the character preparation time. Actors need to establish their identity and emotions in a small number of shots, and also control the intensity of the performance to avoid staying in the same exaggerated state in every scene.
Actors with long-term film and television experience such as Li Lingyu appear together with new faces, which also reflects the changes in the cast structure of micro-short dramas.Mature actors bring stable acting methods, while young actors are familiar with the rhythm of vertical screens and online audiences. The two experiences entering the same work can broaden the age of the characters and the scope of the story.

Annual producers include CCTV International Network Co., Ltd., Hunan Happy Sunshine Interactive Entertainment Media Co., Ltd., Shanghai Tinghua Island Culture Media Co., Ltd., Maws (Hangzhou) Culture Media Co., Ltd., and Dongyang Gewuzhizhi Culture Media Co., Ltd.The list includes both large media and platforms, as well as production companies that have long been involved in micro-short dramas, showing that content production is forming a multi-level cooperation structure.
The setting of producer honors reminds the industry to pay attention to organizational capabilities outside of the camera.A micro-short drama requires script development, actor coordination, on-site shooting, post-production, platform distribution and publicity. When costs and cycles are strictly controlled, whether the process is stable will directly affect the quality of the finished film and determine whether the team can continue to launch new works.
The event is hosted by China Television Artists Association, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Online Literary Communication Center, China Art Newspaper, Hunan Radio, Film and Television Group Co., Ltd. (Hunan Radio and Television) and Hongguo Short Drama, and is hosted by Literary Network (Beijing) Media Co., Ltd.The joint participation of multiple institutions also allows this honorary unit to have the functions of industry evaluation, talent discovery and work promotion.
Micro-short dramas have rapidly expanded their audience size in the past few years, and their themes and business models have also continued to change.Early works often used high-density reversals to grab attention, but now more teams are beginning to get into realistic themes, traditional culture and industry stories.Audiences still need a fast pace, but the requirements for performance, production and complete endings have increased. It is increasingly difficult to form long-term memories based solely on plot stimulation.
From 237 solicited works to 60 shortlisted works, and then to 25 annual micro-short plays, this screening process provides creators with relatively clear observation samples. After the number of works increases, the industry needs to establish standards that can distinguish the degree of completion. Directors, screenwriters, actors and producers should set separate items so that every creative link can be seen.
The first establishment means that the evaluation system will continue to be adjusted. The broadcast scenes, single episode length and business path of micro-short dramas are significantly different from traditional TV dramas. Professional honors require not only understanding the rhythm of the new media, but also adhering to the basic requirements of characters, stories and production.Whether this new unit can continue to promote high-quality production will ultimately come back to the actual quality of the next batch of works.
