《 Elden Ring 》 Live-action movie finalized: Junction completed in six months

The live-action movie Elden Ring has completed six months of filming.Prop master Sean Schofield shared the final news, and Alex Garland and other main creators sent thank you cards to the crew to thank everyone for their work.

The film is produced by A24 in collaboration with Bandai Namco, shot in IMAX format, and is scheduled to be released in North America on March 3, 2028.Garland serves as director and screenwriter, and George R.R. Martin and others serve as producers.Garland, who had announced his retirement from directing, returned to directing movies this time; his previous works include Annihilation, Civil War and Ex Machina.

Starring Kit Conner, Ben Whishaw, Cali Spaeny, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, Nick Offerman, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird and Peter Serafinowicz.

The starting point for the project was a gaming showcase at Garland's home in London.

A24 film director Noah Sacco recalled that the two had talked about Elden's Ring on the phone before visiting Garland a few years ago.At home, Garland used a PlayStation to demonstrate the game on the spot and asked A24 if he wanted to make a movie adaptation.Sacco was attracted by the fantasy setting and visual effects and thought it reminded him of The Lord of the Rings, so he agreed to the idea.

To win Miyazaki's support, Garland first wrote a speculative script without a formal contract: a 160-page draft, plus 40 pages of visual material.After that, he flew to Japan with Sacco to cooperate and sign a contract with Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Miyazaki Hidetaka has previously said that he is of course interested in movie adaptations, but movies and games are different industries. He and FromSoftware cannot complete it alone and need strong partners to join.

The original game was released in 2022 and is a role-playing game that allows players to explore and take risks in an open world.This cooperation is also regarded as an important project for A24 to enter large-scale commercial film production.
