Zhou Bingkun was imprisoned twice in total. The first time was because he published a poem during the Cultural Revolution. He was regarded as a counterrevolutionary and was imprisoned for more than half a year. He was later rehabilitated and released.The second time was because he accidentally injured Luo Shibin. Luo Shibin was his wife's ex-husband and the biological father of his adopted son. He had raped and murdered.In order to protect his son, Zhou Bingkun fought with Luo Shibin, causing Luo Shibin to become a vegetative state.
