Susie had The Gordon Ford Show producer George Toledano fired and casting agent Mike Carr promoted, bringing Midge on to the show.Joel discovers that Susie used Mickey's earnings to pay thugs Frank and Nicky.In order to free Midge, Joel made a deal with the gang.After Midge called off her lavish wedding to writer Philip Roth, Susie took a lot of control.Midge fires Susie after learning that Susie's ties to the gang led to Joel's imprisonment and that she overspent herself at the casino to pay off her gambling debts.
