In March 1945, in the Laka Valley of Lashio, Myanmar, there was thunder and lightning and heavy rain. In the dense forest, military special agent Ou Xiaoan and another man ran away desperately, dodging from time to time the shooting of Japanese soldiers behind them.
The man was shot in the thigh and fell to the ground. He tore a piece of cloth with the word 9548 from his clothes and gave it to Ou Xiaoan as proof of identity for future meetings.A search and patrol team composed of the Chinese Expeditionary Force and the U.S. Army was ambushed while clearing the Japanese base. Tan Moqing (a medic from the 38th Division of the newly formed First Army of the Chinese Expeditionary Force) led the team and rushed for treatment.
