In 1992, when Xiao Jin, a staff member of the Harbin 731 Exhibition Hall, was sorting out historical materials, he discovered that the records of this period of history were incomplete. In order to find the truth, he embarked on a cross-border evidence collection journey that spanned decades, and gradually restored the truth of that dark and dusty period.
The story adopts a dual timeline narrative. The camera returns to Harbin during the Japanese invasion of China. Through the perspectives of several parties involved, it profoundly exposes the cruel human experiments and dehumanizing atrocities of the Japanese Army Unit 731, lashes out the anti-human nature of Japanese militarism, and highlights the tenacious resistance spirit of the Chinese people.
