New Edition - Blade - Another setback: Mahershala Ali confirms exit

Mahershala Ali confirmed that he will not star in the new Marvel version of Blade. The film was announced to be in development in 2019, but after a director change and schedule withdrawal, it has yet to start filming.Ali said that he has stepped forward and it is up to Marvel to answer whether the project continues.

When talking about his new film, Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother, Ali was asked if there was any new progress on Blade. His answer was: “It's not possible for me to act.”

“If they wanted to make this movie, we should have made it.” Ali said that after nearly 30 years in the industry, he has learned to accept that the results of the project cannot be his.He still has a contract and the studio has plenty of money, but he has stopped waiting.

He prefers to be involved in original work that resonates with audiences in a unique way.Bassam Tariq, the director of the new film, had directed "Blade Runner" in preparation. After the project was stalled, he had the time and energy to create this film, and invited Ali to collaborate again.

Ali said that it was impossible for him to shoot two movies at the same time. The existence of the new movie happened to be related to the fact that Blade Warrior was not filmed.More than a year of action training was also used on the new character, which made him feel creative redemption on a personal level.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously admitted that his failure to launch the film with Ali made him feel like an "extreme failure".

Tariq quit in 2022, and Jan Demange, who took over, later broke up with the film studio amicably. At the end of 2024, Marvel withdrew the film schedule; it was originally scheduled to be released in North America on November 7, 2025.

Wesley Snipes starred in three "Blade" movies from 1998 to 2004, and the series was created by David S. Goyer. The real name of Blade Runner is Eric Brooks. The character has extraordinary strength, speed, senses, endurance and rapid healing ability. He is proficient in fighting and weapons, but he also has to face the thirst for blood.Hunter Whist adopted him and helped him equip weapons; vampire leader Foster tried to exploit his weakness, luring him to join and using him as a sacrifice to summon the Blood King.
