Sean Gunn says he's no longer responsible for Rocket Raccoon motion capture

Sean Gunn recently stated that he has retired from working as an action reference on the set of Rocket Raccoon.He said on The Brandon Davis Show that after he turned 50 a few years ago, it became difficult to continue to physically capture the character's motion.He said that he no longer thought he could continue to do this exercise.

Rocket Raccoon is an animated character in the Guardians of the Galaxy series.Bradley Cooper provided the voice for the character, and Sean Gunn was on set completing the action references.He needed to imitate the posture and movement of this small raccoon to provide a performance basis for later animation production.

Sean Gunn says he hasn't received a call to reprise his role as Rocket Raccoon action reference.He added that even if invited, it would be difficult to take on the job again.In order to get close to the character's body shape, he used to frequently twist and lower his body. This kind of performance would bring obvious physical burden during long-term filming.He described such postures as causing physical pain if continued for a long time.

Sean Gunn was involved in the Rocket Raccoon action reference for three of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.The first part was released in 2014, the sequel - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - was launched in 2017, and the third - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 - will be released in 2023.He provided live performance references for Rocket Raccoon on all three takes.

In addition to his on-set action work, Gunn has also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as an actor.He played Kraglin Obfontelli in Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Kraglin's credits listed in the report also include Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.These on-screen characters, along with Rocket Raccoon's on-set action references, are two different jobs Gunn has had on Marvel projects.

Gunn's statement this time did not involve new production plans for Guardians of the Galaxy.What he spoke openly about was his judgment on action reference work and the physical demands the performance placed on it over the course of three films.
