《Ping An's Daughter》Beijing Roadshow: Ma Qiniang's story goes beyond Fujian

 September 21st, Ping An’s daughter came to Beijing for a roadshow.Director Lin Jun and other main creatives such as Su Mengdi, Liu Bo, Zhang Yixin, Chen Kexin, Liao Juan, Lu Lulu, Zhu Ankai, and Yichen shared with the audience the creative experience of this East Fujian-themed film.

The film is based on the national intangible cultural heritage "Ma Xian Beliefs and Customs".During the war, 11-year-old Ma Qiniang lost her father and went to her fiancé Lu's family.Even though Lu's mother, Linma, made things difficult for her, she still helped the villagers. When the plague came, she tried medicine to resist the disease. Then she took the seriously ill Linma to search for Lu Tian for thousands of miles, and finally sacrificed to save others.Her filial piety and righteousness moved the government and the public, and she was named “Madame Protector of the Country”.

This story was also at the center of the roadshow discussion.The guests commented on the film from the perspectives of literary expression, intangible cultural heritage protection and dissemination, youth viewing and directorial art. They believed that it combined the themes of filial piety and peace with the fate of the characters and was an attempt to disseminate intangible cultural heritage images.

Guests who participated in the commentary included painter Qin Bailan, vice president of the China Film and Literature Society Song Fangjin, national intangible cultural heritage protection expert Ma Shengde, economics professor Wang Junchao of the Central Party School (National School of Administration), Wang Yuheng, president of the Film Association of the Central University of Finance and Economics, producer Bao Shihong, and national first-level director Liu Guoquan.

There were friends from the Disabled Persons' Federation and some local sages from Zherong.The former said that Ma Qiniang's experience of delivering kindness in difficult situations made them feel cared for and encouraged them to continue spreading kindness and courage.

When Xiangxian saw the landscape of Eastern Fujian on the screen, his feelings were different.An audience member said: “ saw the story of my hometown being put on the big screen in Beijing, and the feeling of pride was indescribable.”The familiar stories and scenery allow people who are far away from home to meet their hometown again during this movie viewing.

Zherong Xiangxian supported the dissemination of the video with practical actions, hoping to let more people understand “Ma Xian's beliefs and customs”.Jiweixuan, Dingdang Kuaiyao, and Sihaisheng Liquor also provided support for this event and the film.

The film takes "love as a shield and keeps you safe" as its theme, bringing Ma Qiniang's story to audiences outside her hometown.
